Coming Soon (2012, 2013)
Coming Soon highlights the absurdity of gender roles, particularly absurdly simple clichés such as muscle bound heroes running comic book style away from blockbuster explosions. Much as being a woman has little to nothing to do with making inappropriate faces of pleasure over a new type of yogurt, being a man features very few chances to run from an explosion.
This show is the chance for its models to live the experience of an apocalyptic background, but in the fore of their every day, not particularly gendered business. The aim was to achieve hilarity through juxtaposition, and through this to illustrate how little gender effects our lives compared to media portrayals.
