Book Wurm

Book Wurm (2013)

Created as part of the Echo Art Fair site-specific installations at the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library, Book Wurm, or the library’s benevolent parasite, weaves in and out of the stacks, constructed by the ephemera of the library and the dreams of its inhabitants.

Through an accumulation of letters, test scores, junk mail, invitations, and to-do lists, the wurm has grown like a timeline of experiences, with fragments of language in an infinite meandering stream. The wurm represents the power of amassed knowledge and the trap of endless hours spent in a fictional world. It is a mascot for our best books: the ones that are a little bit dangerous.

Installation curated by Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center and sponsored by The John R. Oishei Foundation.
